The Antonov An-225 Mriya, a cargo-lift plane with a huge wingspan, the largest of any aircraft currently in operational service, is destroyed.

The plane had once been a source of national pride, as “Mriya” which means “dream” in Ukrainian and Antonov is still trying to figure out if it’s possible to fix it but that’s something that may need billions of us dollars to accomplish.
The Hostomel Airport or Antonov airport, located on the outskirts of Kyiv, was the site that housed the Ukrainian “Dream” plane and the place where Russia intended to achieve a decisive win over Ukrainian armed forces and push towards Kyiv.
Russian forces captured the Hostomel airport two times.
The first time, Russian Paratroopers tried to capture the airfield and they succeeded only for a few hours before a Ukrainian counterattack. After that, Russian forces with a massive land and air attack re-captured the Hostomel Airport and destroyed the An-225 “Mriya” completely.
After the Russians fled Ukrainian forces took control again of the airport.
