In another funny development from Turkey, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu apparently forgot his courtesies and kindness to the US when asking for earthquake aid and called US President Joe Biden a “charlatan” on April 24 for the latter’s statement on the Armenian genocide.
He also allegedly forgot that not even a month has passed since the first approval of the small upgrade for the Turkish F-16s with an upgraded Link 16, which, although is meaningless compared to the F-16 Block 70/72 upgrade program, remains a step in Turkish-US relations after many years.
The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said:
“Another attempt by political charlatans to distort history! Politically directed statements cannot change the facts. Those who willfully persist in their mistakes are destined to be remembered as hypocrites. No one will dare to lecture us about our history,” Cavusoglu said.
Apparently, Mr. Mevlut Cavusoglu avoided as a diplomat to clearly mention the name of the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and we are sure that in the first response from the USA he will think again very carefully about his vocabulary.
In a statement on Armenian Genocide Memorial Day, Biden said, prompting Cavusoglu’s reaction:
“On April 24, 1915, Ottoman authorities arrested Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople – the beginning of a systematic campaign of violence against the Armenian community. In the years that followed, one and a half million Armenians were deported, massacred or marched to death — a tragedy that forever affected generations of Armenian families.”
