The Chief of the General Staff of the Hellenic Navy, Rear Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, paid a visit to the Naval Group shipyard in Lorient, France and inspected the work on the first of the Greek FDI HN (known also as Belharra) frigates.
It should be reminded that the agreement that has been reached for the new frigates of the Hellenic Navy involves the acquisition of three FDI frigates with an option for a fourth one.
The Greek Defense Minister, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, last December stated that the first frigate will be delivered in 2025 and the next two probably in 2026, while he also stated that the armament program for the Hellenic Navy ships will be completed with the modernization of four Greek MEKO 200 (Hydra-class) frigates and the purchase of four corvettes.
In addition, unconfirmed sources suggest that the Greek FDI Frigates might be finished ahead of time.
