The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs after praising the historical ties between Greece and Russia and the contribution as he said of Russia in the Greek revolution, underlined the role of Greece between NATO and Russia, saying:

“Greece has been and always is in favor of an open and honest dialogue with Russia in all forms, in order to address all the different approaches and to give the appropriate guarantees for peace and security.

We are listening carefully to Russian concerns about its security. We are also taking into account the concerns of other European countries. We believe that the issues of European Security Architecture should be addressed on the basis of a dialogue, which is conducted in accordance with the terms and rules of international law,” said Nikos Dendias in his statements, calling for immediate compliance by all parties to the Minsk agreements.

“We regard Athens as our reliable partner in Europe. Today we had an in-depth discussion on current bilateral issues in the context of the agreements reached during a meeting President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had in December 2021, as well as the practical steps are taken to implement the decisions of that summit, including the Joint Action Plan for 2022-2024.” […]

“We have looked at a number of regional crisis situations, in particular the situation in south-eastern Ukraine. We stressed that there is no alternative to the implementation of the Minsk Agreements in their entirety.

For our part, there were serious concerns about Kyiv’s continuing statements that it would not hold a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Luhansk. This is an immediate challenge and refusal to implement the Minsk Agreements.

We discussed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, the settlement of the Cyprus problem, the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, the Transcaucasia and the Western Balkans.

It was a rich and very useful conversation. We value such opportunities to compare our assessments and ideas on how we could overcome problems in a number of conflict situations.

The negotiations were useful. I thank my colleague and friend and his entire delegation,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in parts of his statement.
