Sana’a, Yemen – In a significant development, the armed forces of the United States and the United Kingdom have launched a new series of coordinated airstrikes against areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, according to US officials and local sources. This operation, reportedly and still unconfirmed named “Operation Poseidon’s Bow” or “Operation Poseidon Archer,” marks a notable increase in Western military involvement in the ongoing conflict in Yemen and is likely the start of a full-scale military operation.
A barrage of at least 11 raids so far has targeted locations throughout Yemen, including the capital, Sana’a, as well as Taiz, Al-Bayda, and Hajjah. The strikes in Sana’a were particularly intense, hitting at least one Houthi missile launcher and a radar installation, which is reported to have been blown up by Tomahawk missiles.
Footage from local sources in Yemen shows the intensity of the coalition’s airstrikes in Sana’a. The images reveal the precision and ferocity of the bombardments currently being carried out by US destroyers and F-18 Super Hornet fighters of the US and Eurofighter Typhoon of the United Kingdom.
