According to the statement from the United States Air Force (USAF):

“Following separation from the aircraft, the ARRW’s booster ignited and burned for expected duration, achieving hypersonic speeds five times greater than the speed of sound.

“This was a major accomplishment by the ARRW team, for the weapons enterprise, and our Air Force,” said Brig. Gen. Heath Collins, Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons. “The team’s tenacity, expertise, and commitment were key in overcoming the past year’s challenges to get us to the recent success. We are ready to build on what we’ve learned and continue moving hypersonics forward.”

The 419th Flight Test Squadron and the Global Power Bomber Combined Test Force, or GPB CTF, both at Edwards Air Force Base, California, executed the test.

“The test team made sure we executed this test flawlessly,” said Lt. Col. Michael Jungquist, 419th FLTS commander and GPB CTF director. “Our highly-skilled team made history on this first air-launched hypersonic weapon. We’re doing everything we can to get this game-changing weapon to the warfighter as soon as possible.”

ARRW is designed to enable the U.S. to hold fixed, high-value, time-sensitive targets at risk in contested environments from stand-off distances. It will also expand precision-strike capabilities by enabling rapid response strikes against heavily defended land targets” the statement of US Air Force concludes.

Putin and Erdogan have worked together and strengthened their partnership, despite regional differences which has helped to keep the tensions and competition under control, making this so-called “partnership” a problem for NATO.

At the beginning of May, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters that he was going to meet Putin “in the coming days,” information began to circulate on news that the two leaders were going to meet “soon.”

This comes at a time when Erdogan is trying to present himself as a significant diplomatic player and a potential peacemaker in the conflict that is involving Russia and Ukraine.

We remind you that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, declared on Friday that it was impossible for Turkey, which is a member of NATO, to view favorably the ambitions that Sweden and Finland had to join the pact.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu has showed his anger against Sweden and Finland, directly accusing them of supporting terrorism.

“Our concerns are completely legitimate. We are not against NATO enlargement, but countries that support terrorist organizations should not be members of NATO. Our attitude towards those who are members of NATO and support terrorist organizations is the same,” Cavusoglu stated.

“There are terrorists trained in PKK camps. There are photos that show that they support the leader of the terrorists, Ocalan.

The statements of the Swedish side are not constructive, on the contrary they are provocative. The Finnish side is cautious and respects our position.

However, we do not see the same from the Swedish side. While meeting with government officials in Sweden, members of the YPG / PKK met there. “After Sweden’s efforts to join NATO began, the so-called YPG / PKK leader was received by the Swedish Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs.” the Turkish Foreign Minister added.

“Assuming they become members of NATO, there is no guarantee that they will help terrorist organizations or not. There must be absolute guarantees of safety here.

Our position is very clear and unambiguous. This is not a threat or a deal for profit. These are clearly the two candidate countries that support terrorism.

While we were at the NATO meeting yesterday, the administrations of the terrorist organizations were meeting in Stockholm.

There must be strict security guarantees. This also applies to other allied countries,” said the Turkish Foreign Minister in his statements

Greece:
KONSTANTINOS FLOROS PHOTO: HNDGS (HELLENIC NATIONAL DEFENSE GENERAL STAFF)

On Sunday and in the context of the events for the 81st Anniversary of the “Battle of the Fortresses” during the German Invasion of Greece, its reenactment took place at Fort Roupel, which was attended, among others, by the Greek Chief of General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros.

Konstantinos Floros’ greeting follows as it was announced by HNDGS:

“It is a great honor and emotion to be here today. Here, in this sacred place for our Nation, where 81 years ago the Greek heroism and the Greek soul left an indelible mark, writing one of the most glorious moments of modern Greece.

So in April 1941, the Heroes of ROUPEL and the other Fortresses of the Metaxa Line, as has remained in the historical subconscious, defended the Thermopylae of Macedonia from Beles to Nestos (Metaxas Line), so that once again the invaders would not invade Greek territory.

They fought for international values and eternal ideals, they fought for the freedom, the honor, and the dignity of a nation that had just given the credentials of its bravery and self-denial, together with lessons of military art, to conquer the Italians that were frozen in Epirus.

Opposite them was the armored and overwhelmingly superior numerically and technologically German war machine. And yet, they clashed with her, proving in practice that the unpaid will of the few can defeat the arrogance of the many. This is what we are facing today.

The events that took place then and which will soon be revived in front of us were really shocking. On these slopes that stretch in front of us, fierce battles took place, which were turned several times into fierce hand-to-hand battles in the labyrinthine underground galleries of the Fortress.

The Greek fighters strongly resisted, repelling and pinning down the units of the German Nazi invaders. In those critical hours, the uniquely constructed material of the Fortress was harmoniously and wonderfully combined with the durable material from which the Greek soul is made.

And so Fort Roupel remained invincible and arrogant, like the soul of its eponymous and anonymous Defenders. To those who made Hitler himself, a few days later, to praise their bravery before the German Reichstag, confessing that: “they confronted us, only the Greek soldier fought with daring courage and the highest contempt for death”.

Reading the historical testimonies of that heroic era, one is moved by the agony and the intense desire that their Defenders felt to look worthy of their colleagues, who in the previous months had humiliated and crushed the Italian arrogance in Pindos and Hill 731, proposing their own honorable “NO” to the German invaders.

A special figure among them, Sergeant Dimitrios Itsios, head of the P8 Machine Gun, who, although he had the opportunity to escape, selectively remained in his position and fought until the end.

The heroic Sergeant, together with the two soldiers who remained by his side until the end, managed with his unsurpassed bravery to cause terrible damage to the Germans, but also a serious delay in their plans to advance to Thessaloniki.

The leading German Officer, after congratulating him on his bravery, in violation of the rules of war, pulled out his pistol and executed him in cold blood, thus committing the first war crime on Greek soil from the many that would follow during the storm.

Ladies and gentlemen, From this heroic cloth we come. From people like Itsio and like Major Douratsos, the legendary Commander of ROUPEL, he confronted the Germans with that historic

“The Forts can not surrender. They can be occupied”, clarifying to them that “Any attempt to approach the Fortress will fail!”

Do not have any doubt that if the occasion demands it, we will have new ROUPEL’s again, new Douratsos and new Itsians will appear who will do their duty in full, defending the Freedom and Dignity of Greece.

I am referring to the personnel of the Armed Forces, of whom I have the greatest honor to lead, and who, in case of hostile intrigue, assures you that it will selflessly deny the same path that honored heroes today, holding high once again the honor of the Greek Armed Forces.

I remind you that the sinking of the Greek Navy Cruiser ELLI in Tinos was taken as a weakness. Wrong thought as history has shown. No one should play with the history of the Greeks. And he does not play with impunity.

The men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Special Operations Forces today hold the historical baton tightly, giving daily, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Good Struggle in the Greek Ramparts in order to defend the national sovereignty and our sovereign rights, while ensuring peace and stability in our region.

Everywhere from the end of the Territory, those who suffer from it, both on land and at sea and in the air, are well aware of it.

The honor of being here today, in these glorious and blood-stained places where our heroic ancestors fought glorifying Greece, is really great. The memory of all these great Greeks is eternal ” the greeting of the Greek Chief of General Staff concluded.

“To begin with, the reason I was astonished due to the fact that I had a phone conversation with the President, Mr. Erdogan” Niinisto said to CNN during his appearance on the program “State of the Union.”

“And then he said that they will estimate, well, positively our aim to apply for membership. And now it changed.” the Finnish President added.

The President of Finland announced on Sunday that the country will apply to join NATO. This will be an important step for Finland, which has maintained a policy of military neutrality for several decades.

In a joint press conference with Prime Minister Sanna Marin, President Sauli Niinistö said:

“Today, we, the President and the Government’s Foreign Policy Committee, have jointly decided that Finland… will apply to join NATO.”

He further added that Finland’s security would be “maximized” as a result of its membership in the alliance.

It is recalled that Russia has clearly threatened Finland with military retaliation if it enters NATO membership processes.

Russia’s threats against Finland and Sweden are growing as they get closer to joining NATO.

Following the Russian Foreign Minister’s threat to retaliate against Finland, it was Russian MP Aleksey Zhuravlyov who said that Finland was endangering its very existence if it decided to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

State Duma deputy and party leader Rodina told Ura.ru that Finland and Russia once had good relations after World War II, but now he said Helsinki “will do something to create additional problems for us”.

“When you create problems for someone, you have to understand that you will get them yourself,” he said, adding that Finns should be grateful to Russia, which is an independent state.

“If Finland wants to join this bloc, then it will be a perfectly legitimate goal for us to question the existence of this state. That makes sense. These countries are part of an alliance that wants to destroy Russia. “Therefore, in response, we also want to destroy them,” the Russian MP warned.

Earlier, Aleksey Zhuravlyov, speaking on the television program “60 Minutes”, said that it was a pity that Kyiv was not hit by rockets while the US Minister of Foreign Affairs was there Antony Blinken, and that Russia’s new missile, Sarmat, could hit the United Kingdom because it backs Ukraine.

Turkey suddenly changed its mind with Erdogan’s spokesman stating that Turkey has not closed the door on the possibility of Sweden and Finland joining NATO.

Nevertheless, Turkey wants to negotiate with the Nordic countries and wants to stop Kurdish terrorist organizations, that are “housed” in Sweden and Finland.

“We are not closing the door. But we are basically raising this issue as a national security issue for Turkey,” Ibrahim Kalin told Reuters.

Kalin said the Kurdish PKK, which has been described as a terrorist organization, is raising funds and recruiting people in Europe and that its presence is “strong, open and recognized, especially in Sweden”.

“What needs to be done is clear: PKK shops, activities, organizations, individuals must be banned from being present in these countries,” Kalin said.

NATO membership always has a process. We will see how things go. But this is the first point at which we want to draw the attention of all the allies as well as the Swedish authorities. Of course we want to have a discussion, a negotiation with our Swedish counterparts,” he added.

“If Finland and Sweden are concerned about their own national security, we have one thing in common. We are equally concerned about our own safety. We have to look at it from a mutual perspective,” Kalin said, adding that Russia’s opposition to the issue did not affect Turkey’s stance.
