The European Commission said on Wednesday that it has not received any money from Poland in connection with the still operational Turów mine, despite sending Poland two requests for payment of penalties granted by the CJEU.

European Commission spokesman Balazs Ujvari said that if the money doesn’t flow, it will be deducted from the EU budget that Poland is entitled to.

Poland’s government spokesman, Piotr Müller, responded to this statement by reaffirming the government’s position that the CJEU ruling is “outside the competencies of the EU” and is therefore unacceptable.

According to Piotr Müller, Poland is waiting for the European Commission to take action in the current scenario. When asked if “it is possible” for the Commission to deduct these amounts “in a manner that Poland considers not in compliance with the law,” he said, “yes, they can do it.”

He also assured Polish people that they wouldn’t be affected, stating, “Another thing that is important to us is making sure that Poles do not lose their electrical power, which is why we are prepared to pay whatever it takes to ensure the safety of Polish families and prevent the power from being shut off for millions of people.”

An official spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry said that China was “shocked and strongly opposed to Slovenian remarks.”

More specifically Zhao Lijian stated:

“The Chinese side is shocked by and strongly opposes the dangerous remarks by the Slovenian leader who flagrantly challenged the one-China principle and voiced support for “Taiwan independence”. There is but one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The PRC government is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. The one-China principle is a universally-recognized norm governing international relations and common consensus of the international community. It is also the political foundation of China-Slovenia and China-EU relations.

China must be and will be reunified. Nobody should underestimate the Chinese people’s strong resolution, will, and capability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The interview with Janez Jansa on Doordarshan also revealed his government’s plans to follow Lithuania’s lead against China by creating reciprocal trade offices with Taiwan.

The Slovenian Prime Minister also said that “continued Chinese pressure on the Taiwan island and its newfound European Union allies would backfire”.

“We applaud Taiwan’s people for exercising their right to self-determination. If they wish to join China, we will assist them if they do so of their own free will, without any pressure, military intervention, blackmail, or strategic deceit, as is currently occurring in Hong Kong. “

“But if the people of Taiwan choose to live independently, we are here to support them as well, “added Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa.

He also supported Lithuania on the claim that China had restricted imports because of its decision to allow a Taiwanese representative office in the nation. Slovenia plans to follow Lithuania’s lead and open reciprocal trade offices with Taiwan, according to the Slovenian prime minister’s interview with Doordarshan.

Ben Wallace: The United Kingdom arms Ukraine with anti-tank weapons

Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary of the United Kingdom, stated in the British parliament on Monday that the country has “made the decision to provide Ukraine with light anti-tank weapons.”

“We have taken the decision to supply Ukraine with light, anti-armour, defensive weapon systems. A small number of UK personnel will also provide early-stage training for a short period of time, within the framework of Operation ORBITAL, before then returning to the United Kingdom.

This security assistance package complements the training and capabilities that Ukraine already has, and those that are also being provided by the UK and other Allies in Europe and the United States. Ukraine has every right to defend its borders, and this new package of aid further enhances its ability to do so” the UK politician stated.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace did not disclose the number or type of anti-tank weapons that were being provided to Ukraine.

“However, these are not strategic weapons and do not constitute a threat to Russia,” he continued. They are to be used in self-defense situations. “

“These are short-range… but they would cause people to pause and consider what they were doing, and if tanks were to roll into Ukraine and invade it, they would be a part of the defense mechanism,” states the UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.

Kosovo Serbs protest Pristina’s decision to block a referendum on constitutional changes. Kosovo “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti says Serbs living in Kosovo would be able to vote. Kosovo Albanian authorities are opposed to the referendum in Serb-populated areas.

Kosovo Serbs conducted a peaceful rally in the northern section of the city, Kosovska Mitrovica, in protest of Pristina’s decision to block a referendum on Serbian constitutional changes, according to Serbian national television sources.

Voting in the referendum will begin at 7.00 on Sunday in Serbia, except Kosovo and Metohija. With the exception of Kosovo and Metohija, there are 8,029 voting locations across the country.

This election has a total of over 6.5 million people eligible to vote. According to Kosovo “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti, Serbs living in the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo would be able to vote in the referendum via mail or at a liaison office in Pristina, he said on January 13.

Although diplomatic missions and embassies from Western nations have requested it, the Kosovo Albanian authorities are categorically opposed to holding a referendum in the country’s Serb-populated areas. On Saturday night, Kosovo’s “parliament” voted in favor of a resolution to prevent a referendum from taking place.

According to the Serbian Electoral Commission, voters from Kosovo and Metohija will be allowed to cast votes at four locations in central Serbia: Kurumlija, Raska, Novi Pazar, and Vranje.

“People in Kosovo and Metohija who identify as Serbian continue to call for a referendum on constitutional changes affecting the judiciary.” We demand that Europe, the Quint countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy), and the rest of the international forces do everything they can to ensure the right of Serbs in Kosovo to vote, as it has been in previous electoral processes, subject to agreements and procedures.

As a result, I proclaim that Serbian elections are now official. “Goran Raki stated

Voters from the Kosovo enclave of Gracanica allegedly rode 23 buses to Kurumlija, Serbia’s major city, to exercise their right to vote.

Yatsenyuk for Zelensky: Putin will “eat him for breakfast” without Western aid

“I would advise Zelensky to avoid holding separate discussions with Putin. He can only speak with Putin if he is accompanied by our Western allies, which include the United States and Europe. ”

Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a former Ukrainian prime minister, said and warned that if Zelensky initiates separate talks with Putin, the Russian leader “will eat him for breakfast.”

According to him, Russia is attempting to portray itself as a victim in the ongoing negotiations with the United States and the European Union.

This is complete and utter nonsense. Russia ratified the Budapest Memorandum but then went back on its word and violated it. Putin broke the strategic partnership for friendship and cooperation with Ukraine, which he signed in 2007.

The Soviet Union annexed most of the territories it had occupied after World War II, including Crimea, and occupied portions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Moreover, they claim that someone is threatening them,” the former Ukrainian prime minister said, adding that Ukraine requires strong defensive weapons in order to deter Russia from intervening.

“We are not going to give up. “For Ukraine, this is a matter of life and death,” Yatsenyuk” said.
