War sirens sounded in the early hours of Thursday in Israel after an explosion at the Dimona nuclear plant.
Israeli media initially reported a rocket attack from Gaza, but a few minutes later the Israeli military denied it.
In an official statement, the Israeli army says a surface-to-air missile launched from Syria has fallen in Israel’s Negev region.
In response, Israeli air force aircraft hit the battery that launched the missile and other SAM batteries on Syrian territory.
It is noted that shortly before the Syrian attack, the Israeli air force carried out airstrikes in Damascus.
