More information has been released about the upcoming purchase of six Turkish T-129 ATAK attack helicopters for the Philippine Air Force. The first two helicopters are expected to be delivered to the Philippines by the end of 2021.
“Based on recent events, we expect the first two T129 attack helicopters for the Philippine Air Force to be delivered this September,” said Philippine National Defense Ministry spokesman Arsenio Andolong in a statement.
The contract for the supply of six T129B ATAKs is estimated at $ 269 million. It is reported in Turkish media that the first two attack helicopters have already been built by TAI.
However, Turkey itself points out that despite the announcement of the Philippines, the deliveries of the attack helicopters will not take place before November 2021.
Two more helicopters are expected to be delivered in February 2022, while the last pair is expected to be delivered in 2023. Philippine Air Force personnel will travel to Turkey to be trained in the ATAK T129B soon.
