“POSEIDON’S RAGE”: Greece to host joint exercise with USAFE

The relationship between Greece and the United States is constantly being upgraded with Greek base of Souda being informally transformed into a new Incirlik as American fighters are constantly relocating to Crete for exercises with the Greek armed forces.

The Greek General Staff of National Defense announced that from 28 May till June 11, 2021 will be held operational exercise between the Greek Armed Forces, and fighter jets of the US Air Force, named «POSEIDON’S RAGE, under the accrual of operational training and interoperability of the Armed Forces with friends and allied countries, which have been carried out continuously for the last period of time based on the overall planning of Greek General Staff.

The U.S. Air Force, which consists of 14 F-15E personnel from 142 Fighter Squadron (FS) aircrafts of the US Air Forces in Europe – USAFE, completed its relocation to Souda Airport on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

“POSEIDON’S RAGE” will include, as stated by Greek General Staff:

“Low altitude training, ground and surface target attacks, drop-off of real / training weapons as well as aerial combat and Composite Air Operation (COMAO) missions.

The program also includes Close Air Support (CAS) missions in collaboration with Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) forces and the Special Warfare Command (SWC) of Greek General Staff, as well as air defense exercises (Air Defense Exercise – ADEX) with the participation of ships of the Navy ”concludes the announcement of Greek General Staff.
