Russia rejected accusations that killed civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha on Sunday, calling the videos and photos of dead bodies a “provocation” and a “staged performance” by Kyiv.
Ukraine has accused Russia of massacring citizens of Bucha, a town northwest of Kyiv that Ukrainian troops reported having retaken on Saturday.
“All the photos and videos published by the Kyiv regime, allegedly testifying to the ‘crimes’ of Russian servicemen in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region, are another provocation,” the Russian Ministry of Defense stated referring to the footage as “another staged performance by the Kyiv regime for the Western media”.
“During the time that Russian armed forces were in control of this settlement, not a single local resident suffered from any violent actions,” the ministry added.
The Ukrainian authorities have said that when control of the town was taken back, the streets were full of civilians’ bodies. Shocking photos and videos showing the situation on the town’s streets have been published by Ukrainian people.
