According to Major General Igor Konashenkov, the official spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, 90% of the Ukrainian military airfields, on which housed the Ukrainian Airforce fighter jets and UAVs, have been destroyed.
“By the time of the start of the special operation, the Ukrainian armed forces had an Air Force consisting of up to 250 functional fighter jets and helicopters. On the ground and in the air, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed 89 fighter jets and 57 helicopters”
The Russian Major General Igor Konashenkov also noted that a portion of the Ukrainian fighter jets has flown to Romania and is not going to participate in the war.
We remind you that recently the US also rejected the idea to transfer Polish Mig-29s to Ukraine by saying that such departing from a U.S./NATO base in Germany into airspace that is contested with Russia over Ukraine raises serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance.
