The Russian military will receive the first batch of Armata T-14 tanks in 2021, Rostec chief Sergei Tsemezov told a news conference on Monday.
“Deliveries of T-14 Armata tanks will begin in 2021.
“Today, it is definitely the best tank in the world. In the future, this vehicle will be the new main tank of the Russian army,” said Tsemezov.
He also noted that the new Russian tank has recently been approved for export, and Russian state arms seller Rosoboronexport is also preparing to sell the Armata to potential foreign buyers.
Armata is a platform that serves as the basis for the development of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and some other armored vehicles.
The T-14 tank based on the Armata platform was presented to the public for the first time at the Victory Day parade in Red Square on May 9, 2015. The new tank features fully digitized equipment, an unmanned turret, and an isolated armored capsule for the crew.
