Hamas from Gaza fired rockets at Israel in the early hours of Thursday morning provoking a major escalation with Israel.

According to Israeli officials, the attack started on Wednesday afternoon with the first rocket falling in a garden in the city of Sderot, leaving no casualties. At midnight, Israeli forces responded with strong airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
Hamas later continued its offensive, firing at least four rockets from Gaza, which were intercepted by Israeli air defenses. The IDF said it had struck Hamas facilities, as well as the tunnel complex in which it said rockets were being made.

Hamas, on the other hand, has said it has used surface-to-air missiles against Israeli aircraft without success. As we have already informed you, in the past few days Hamas stated that it is ready for new tensions with the Israeli state after the recent incidents in Jerusalem, typically saying that they are “with their finger on the trigger”.
