Turkish police arrested two members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for placing five kilograms of explosives at a bus station in Constantinople.

On Wednesday, Turkish police carried out an operation at the city’s busiest intercity bus station, where plastic explosives placed under a vehicle were found.

The remote-controlled explosives had been hidden inside six cigarette cartons, with a security camera recording PKK members arriving at the bus station a few hours before the explosives were found.

“Today the Istanbul police prevented a major terrorist attack. Thanks to the vigilance of our police, an explosive device with 5 kg of explosives was discovered at a bus station. We turned it off. Two men who installed the explosive devices have been arrested and are in custody,” Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu told NTV channel.
