US Forces increase readiness over rumors of a potential Iranian strike

The US armed forces, Navy and Marine Corps are on combat alert and they have increased surveillance over Iraq to react to a potential Iranian attack at U.S. troops in the Middle East.

Pentagon is worried about developments of Iranian-supported volunteer armies in the midst of uplifted strains just before the anniversary of death of Iran’s top officer General Qasem Soleimani that been executed in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad on 3 January 2020.

“It is worrisome,” one official told CNN and he added that “We have indications of militia preparations” he added.

While he said that there are no particular signs that any choice to assault has been made, the official said that such militia meetings had been attempted lately.

The US Air Force sent a pair of B-52 bombers from their base in US, to the Middle East and back to “deter aggression” in the region. The US Navy has also sent the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz back to the Middle East .

Many plane spotters from Twitter noticed the increased readiness of US Forces based on Middle east reported that the U.S. Air Force has deployed RC-135W signals-intelligence aircraft , KC-135 tankers, KC-10A heavy tankers and an E-3B (AWACS) to the region.

The Pentagon is concerned that Tehran could take advantage of the presidential transition and U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the upcoming anniversary of the U.S. killing of Iranian leader Qassem Soleimani, a military source told Politico.
