A stolen civilian plane intercepted by a French Air Force fighter jet on Wednesday.
The Slovak pilot allegedly stole the plane from Italy and then entered French airspace, blocking air traffic over Nice and flying over a military base in Toulon.
A Mirage 2000 intercepted the aircraft, which landed at a French airport accompanied by the fighter jet. The pilot was arrested by the French police, while it was found that he was not wearing shoes and was handling the aircraft with the socks.
According to information from the French authorities, the pilot of the stolen plane is about 30 years old, spoke English, and did not have any personal documents with him.
The French aerospace forces confirmed the incident in a relevant post on their official Twitter account and pointed out that in 2021 the French air force had to intervene in 170 similar incidents.
