On 17 March, the U.S. Air Force has publicly released an image of a U.S. Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopter armed with two Israeli-made Spike NLOS missiles.

The details were given in a Wednesday media release, to announce that the U.S. Army’s new Spike missile completed a demonstration last month at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida thanks to the 780th Test Squadron.

The 96th Test Wing squadron was responsible for planning and executing the maritime (over water) demonstration of the non-line-of-sight, multi-purpose weapon using the Army’s AH-64E Apache helicopter, according to a recent service news release.

“Our team worked closely with the Army to make sure everything went smoothly and the demonstration was successful. We were excited to test a new weapon system here at Eglin,”

said Amanda Hargett, 780th TS test engineer.

The U.S. Army Futures Command Future Vertical Lift Cross-Functional Team and the Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation and Missile Center brought the AH-64 here for the evaluation. The demonstration was broken down into four days.

On the last day of the test, the AH64 Apache launched the Spike NLOS from 32 kilometers away and scored a direct hit on a stationary vessel.
