Exercise DEMOKRITOS 22: Defense and offensive operations of XXI and XXV Greek Armored Brigades

The Hellenic Army sent a message to its foes from Xanthi, by conducting a new military exercise.

According to announcement of the General Staff of the Hellenic Army:

From 3 to 10 June 2022, the Exercise “DEMOKRITOS 2022” was held in the area of ​​Xanthi, with the aim of the practical application of the knowledge of the new Lieutenants of all Arms and Corps of 2021 order on defensive and offensive objects realistic conditions, with the participation of divisions and means of the XXI Armored Brigade (XXI “PINDOS”) and the XXV Armored Brigade (XXV “2nd Cavalry Regiment – Ephesus”).

During the exercise, which took place under the auspices of the Infantry Directorate of the General Staff of the Hellenic Army and was designed and organized by the Infantry School in collaboration with the respective Schools of Other Weapons and Corps, Artillery, Tank, Mortar shots were fired and Anti-tank vehicles while the use of Armored Personnel Carriers (APC), Tankers, Motorized Self Propelled Artillery Pieces as well as Helicopters.

In parallel with the exercise, the Greek Lieutenants were trained on the field in matters of Logistics, while the XXI Armored Brigade (XXI “PINDOS”) executed the recovery of heavy technical equipment.

The exercise, which was attended by the Commander of the 4th Hellenic Army Corps “THRACE” Lieutenant General Ioannis Tsioplos, contributed to the increase of the level of operational training, combat capability and understanding of the participating Lieutenants, promoting the cooperation on the modern battlefield” states the announcement of the Hellenic Army General Staff.
