Israel successfully intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen toward central Israel yesterday. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the missile, fired by Houthi rebels, was intercepted by the long-range Arrow air defense system outside the country’s borders. Despite the successful interception, air raid sirens sounded throughout central Israel as a precautionary measure against possible debris, the IDF explained.
Later, fragments of the Israeli ARROW interceptor missile were found near the town of Zur Hadassah, close to Jerusalem. The Israeli police reported minor property damage but no injuries.
Earlier that day, the Houthis issued a statement expressing condolences for the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, claiming he died in the most honorable way, “martyring in the path of God.” They reiterated their commitment to the destruction of Israel and continued support for Hamas.
“The martyrdom of the Eminent Leader Hassan Nasrallah will fuel the flame of sacrifice, the heat of enthusiasm, and the strength of determination to carry on. The inevitable outcome will be the defeat of the Israeli enemy and its temporary entity. […] We affirm that the blood of the martyred leaders will not be shed in vain, God willing. The Israeli enemy will not achieve any of its cowardly goals. Resistance will remain unbroken, and the jihadist spirit of our mujahideen brothers in Lebanon and all fronts supporting Hamas will strengthen and grow,” said the Houthis in their statement.
