The Council of the Russian Ministry of Defense was addressed by the Minister of Defense of the country, Sergei Shoigu, during which he informed about the developments in Ukraine.
Shoigu referred to the successes of the Russian army and announced that the “liberation of the Luhansk People’s Republic” was approaching.
“The liberation of the Luhansk People’s Republic is nearing completion. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, trying to delay the advance of Russian troops, do not allow the locals to leave the cities and use them as a human shield.
“Losing on the ground, the Kiev regime seeks to achieve at least short-term success in some areas, presenting them as important,” said the Russian Defense Minister.
Regarding the operations in Lugansk, what Shoigu said seems to be true as the defense of the Ukrainians, especially in the Popasna region, seems to be facing a big problem.
He also said that on the eve of Victory Day, “the Ukrainian authorities made an “adventurous” attempt to occupy Snake Island, ending in failure, and warned that any future challenge would be dealt with severely.
In addition, he said that the “nationalists” in Azovstal continue to surrender and so far 1,908 Ukrainians have surrendered their weapons and that Russia has evacuated more than a million people to Russian territory, stressing that it is doing everything possible to prevent deaths of civilians” Shoigu stated.
Sergei Shoigu also said that in the near future the Western Military District of the Russian army will be significantly strengthened given the NATO expansion in Sweden and Finland.
