Editorial Policy

Geopolitiki.com is the English-language edition of NEMESIS HD, an independent news outlet based in Athens, Greece. This page explains how we choose, produce and label what we publish.

What we cover

We report on defence, geopolitics, diplomacy and security, with a focus on Greece, Cyprus, Greek-Turkish relations and the Eastern Mediterranean, and on the international developments that affect them. We choose stories by their news value and their relevance to readers who follow the region from abroad.

Sources and verification

  • We rely first on primary sources: governments, ministries, armed forces, international organisations, official company announcements and documents.
  • When a story comes from another news organisation, we name it and link to it where possible.
  • Claims made by governments or parties to a conflict are attributed to them and are not presented as established fact.
  • We do not publish anonymous claims as fact. When we cite unnamed officials reported by another outlet, we say so.

News, analysis and opinion

News reports describe what happened and who said what. Analysis explains context and possible consequences and is published in the Analysis section. Opinion pieces reflect the views of their authors, are published in the Opinion section and do not necessarily represent the views of Geopolitiki.com.

Translation and adaptation

Much of our reporting is based on the Greek-language journalism of NEMESIS HD. These articles are translated and adapted for an international audience, which can include adding context that a reader outside Greece needs. Names, places, figures and weapon systems are kept as in the original reporting.

Images

We use official photographs from governments, armed forces and companies, public-domain material and images we are licensed to use, credited in the caption where possible. Illustrations created for an article are not presented as photographs of real events.

Independence and funding

Geopolitiki.com is funded by advertising. We are not funded by governments, state bodies or political parties, and advertisers have no influence over what we publish. Advertising is clearly separated from editorial content.

Updates and corrections

When a story develops, we update the same article and show the time of the last update. When we get something wrong, we correct it as described in our Corrections Policy.
