Greece is buying, probably Belh@rra frigates, as at the invitation of his French colleague, the Greek defence minister travelled to Paris to explore future cooperation and sign a statement of intent between the two countries to proceed.

“We talked about equipment difficulties pertaining to the Greek Navy’s provision of two frigates to the United States Navy.

“We have signed a declaration of intent between the two countries to move the process forward,” Greek Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos said in Paris, announcing the official opening of negotiations on the purchase of two Belh@rra frigates. “We have signed a declaration of intent between the two countries to move the process forward,” he added.

Because the French are requesting that the contract be finished by the end of January 2020, Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Florence Parley have signed a letter of intent (LOI) today as part of an ambitious effort to expedite the process so that it can be completed within one hundred days.
