According to the Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen, on 13 April, the Israeli ship Hyperion Ray was attacked near the Fujairah coast of the United Arab Emirates.

Israeli media reported that the attack was most likely carried out with a missile or drone and that only minor damage to the vessel was caused.

An Israeli security official told the New York Times on Tuesday that Israel has no plans to respond with an equivalent attack on an Iranian vessel – as Israelis try to reduce tensions in the Persian Gulf region.

Despite minor damage, Hyperion Ray had to enter the UAE port for repairs.

According to Israeli TV channel 12, the cargo ship belongs to Israeli businessman Rami Younger.

If Iranian involvement is confirmed, the attack on Hyperion Ray is the latest in a series of “war games” between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
