Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan referred to Hagia Sophia again at an event in the city of Denizli, provoking once again Christendom, according to ERTNews.
“Even the restoration of Hagia Sophia in its original form, according to the legacy of Mohammed the Conqueror, is enough to symbolize the process of our country’s re-engagement with the values of civilization,” Erdogan said.
“We want to turn these pleasant developments into the foundation stone of a new development that will lead our country and nation to the top,” he noted, adding:
“Undoubtedly, we will achieve the rise of our country with the strength we get from the Holy Quran. Throughout history, we have achieved this in various geographies and for a thousand years in Anatolia and, God willing, we will achieve it again.”
