A Russian fighter jet dropped a bomb in the Russian city of Belgorod, leaving a 40-metre-wide crater, damaging buildings and injuring two people.
The incident occurred late on Thursday when a Russian Aerospace Forces Su-34 was flying over the city, which is home to more than 400,000 people and lies 40 kilometres north of the Ukrainian border.
According to TASS:
“A Russian Su-34 aircraft, a twin-engine fighter-bomber, released ammunition over the town of Belgorod, 40 kilometers north of the border with Ukraine,” according to reports from state news agencies RIA Novosti and TASS.
The Russian Defense Ministry also issued a statement on the incident:
“Around 22:15 Moscow time on April 20, when a Su-34 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was performing a flight over the city of Belgorod, an extraordinary release of air artillery occurred,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, according to TASS.
