Two sailors were killed in an attack by an unmanned aircraft on an Israeli tanker in the North Indian Ocean on Thursday night, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing Israel’s Channel 13.
The attack appears to have been carried out by Iran, according to a statement made by an anonymous Israeli official to the Israeli newspaper.
“There is an Iranian terrorist attack here, two innocent people have been killed. The Iranians attacked the ship with an unmanned aircraft. An innocent ship with innocent dead. ” said the official.
Emmanuel Fabian, an Israeli Times reporter, tweeted that an Israeli official had commented on the attack on the tanker:
An unnamed Israeli official on the alleged Iranian strike on the Mercer Street oil tanker near Oman: “The mask is off, and it is impossible to pretend not to know the nature of the Iranian regime. Iran is not only a problem of Israel, it is a global problem. “
In addition, the Arab news network Al-Alam reported that the attack was carried out in retaliation by Iran for an Israeli airstrike on the Dabaa military airport in Homs, Syria.
