Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh described the Israeli flag marches in East Jerusalem as “an attack that transcended all red lines.”

Tens of thousands of Israelis holding flags marched in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City on Sunday. As Al-Jazeera reports, the Israeli march that took place around the Al-Aqsa Mosque was intended to celebrate the occupation and subsequent annexation of East Jerusalem in 1967.

Some reportedly shouted racist slogans, including “Death to the Arabs,” and attacked Palestinians in the area, and some stormed al-Aqsa.

“Israel yesterday crossed all red lines and international conditions with the repeated attack against Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. It is trying to impose a reality that is not in line with the historic status quo of the Al-Aqsa mosque,” Shtayyeh said on Monday.
