Ukrainian Pilot: “The Russians are setting traps – We want F-16’s”

One of Ukraine’s top pilots has revealed that Russia is setting elaborate “traps” for Ukrainian fighter jets. Major General Vadim Voroshilov pleaded with the West to send F-16 fighter jets, saying it is becoming more and more difficult every day to hold back the Russians with antiquated Soviet aircraft.

More Specifically, Major General Voroshilov warned during an interview with The Telegraph, “The Russians are constantly changing tactics, so the war is not stable”

To trick the Ukrainian pilot into believing there is only one aircraft, they will send a single Russian aircraft and then two or three more will appear on either side of him to chase the Ukrainian fighters, the Major told The Telegraph.

He also stressed that Ukrainian pilots are limited to “defending themselves” as they continue to operate obsolete MiG-29s from the Soviet Union.

According to the Ukrainian pilot, it is very difficult to intercept and shoot down modern Russian fighter aircraft such as Su-35s and Su-34s.

“With F-16s, we could control the airspace over the battlefield (on air, land and sea) to defend our infantry,” he said, adding “At the moment, we can only hold the enemy. We need more aircraft with cutting-edge technology to defeat and overcome the enemy.”
