During the Battle of Grozny (1999), the city had been reduced to a ruinous state by a Russian self-propelled multi-role rocket system that has seen action in conflict zones around the world, including Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq, and Syria. Buratino is the only such system in the world.
Buratino TOS1 earned a terrifying reputation for the devastation it inflicts on any enemy force that comes into contact with it. This is due to the incendiary ammunition it employs, which is known as “liquid fire.”
Buratino was first used in combat in the Panjshir Valley in the 80s, and in 1999, the same year that TOS-1 was first publicly revealed to the public, it made its debut during the siege of the Chechen capital of Grozny, earning the designation TOS-1 for the first time.

The Russian army’s use of TOS-1 to demolish building blocks in Grozny has prompted a slew of complaints from civilians who claim that they have suffered collateral damage. In fact, a coordinated Tos-1 bombing with other artillery pieces resulted in the deaths of 37 civilians and the wounding of over 200 others.
