A few hours after the EU’s “blockade” of Skopje’s accession negotiations, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev announced snap elections, as reported by the French agency AFP.

The “historical mistake of the European Union”, as European officials have called it, has caused political shocks in Skopje, with Zoran Zaev examining the resignation scenario from the first moment.

“I propose rapid elections that you, the citizens, will decide the path we will take,” Zaev said in a televised message.
