A new heavy exchange of gunfire took place today on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near the village of Norabak, in the Gegharkunik region, resulting in the death of an Armenian soldier.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, “an Armenian soldier was hit inside the Armenian territory, by fire fired by Azeri soldiers in the village of Norabak. The fire resulted in Armenian soldier Suren Safaryan, born in 2002, succumbing to his injuries.
The Ministry of Defense shares the deep sorrow of the loss and expresses its support to the family, relatives, and colleagues of Suren Safaryan. The situation at the border has calmed down,” the announcement of the Armenian Ministry of Defense stated.
According to reports in the Armenian media, after the Armenian soldier was shot, a group of Armenians tried to pick him up and take him to a hospital.
Seeing this attempt, the Azeris began firing again towards the position of the wounded Armenian soldier, but the barrage of fire from the Armenian units gave the troops time to pull the soldier and finally take him to the hospital, where unfortunately he didn’t make it.
