Azerbaijan attempted to violate Armenia’s borders

Early in the morning of May 12, Azerbaijan’s armed forces tried to storm one of the border areas of the Armenian province of Syunik under the guise of “border adjustments,” Armenia’s Ministry of Defence says.

Azerbaijan’s army stopped the move after warning shots were fired from the Armenian side. Negotiations are ongoing to resolve the situation.

The defence ministry refuted local media reports of fighting in the Armenian village of Ischkanasar.

“In the event of such developments, the Ministry of Defence will be the first to make a statement. We urge that we avoid publishing unverified, especially panic spread information,” said the Press Service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense.
