The Chinese ambassador to the U.S. sent a clear warning to Washington over Taiwan, threatening even a military conflict.
“Please allow me to emphasize this. The question of Taiwan is the most volatile point of conflict between China and the United States. ” The Chinese ambassador to the US, Qin Gang, stated to the US National Public Radio
According to the ambassador, if the United States favors Taiwan’s independence, a military clash between China and the United States could erupt as he further said: “If the Taiwanese authorities, encouraged by the United States, continue down the road toward independence, it is very likely that it will entangle China and the United States, the two major powers, in a military clash.”
These comments most likely come after a US Pentagon spokesman’s statement which said:
“We will continue to help Taiwan retain a robust self-defense capability while also maintaining our own capacity to reject any use of force that would compromise the security of the Taiwanese people,”
