The French, who have recently been strengthening their presence in the Eastern Mediterranean in view of the Turkish threats, had a warm welcome from the Hellenic Air Force as two Greek F-16 Block 52+ fighters made their presence felt in Karpathos.
In particular, the announcement of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff states:
“On Friday, July 29, 2022, an ADEX (Air Defense Exercise) of 2 F-16 Block 52+ Fighter Aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force was conducted with the French Frigate FS PROVENCE, in the wider maritime area southeast of Karpathos.
During the joint training, air defense scenarios were carried out, which contributed to promoting the level of operational readiness, combat capability and cooperation of the participants in a bilateral and allied context.
This joint training is part of the implementation of the “Guidelines for the Upgrading of Greek-French Military Cooperation” signed by the Chief of the Greek-French Military Cooperation, General Constantinos Floros, and the Chief of the French Defense Staff, General Thierry Burkhard, during his official visit to the Hellenic National Defense Gneral Staff on 21 January 2022″ concludes the announcement.
