After China’s threats to the US on the occasion of Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming visit to Taiwan were not just words but also military moves and a wider mobilization of Chinese amphibious forces, the US does not seem willing to back down.
In particular, the battle group of the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier is located near Taiwan along with the ships USS Tripoli and USS America, which, in cooperation with forces located in Korea and Japan, will undertake the protection of Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
The White House has not yet officially confirmed that a visit to Taiwan will take place, but US and Chinese media insist it is expected today.
China has sent amphibious vehicles to Fujian province and its naval forces have sailed, including the aircraft carrier Liaoning which is seen in satellite images heading towards the Taiwan Strait.
For its part, Taiwan is currently exercising -as we have already informed you here for days now- about the possibility of a “Chinese” invasion.
Citizens are being trained and informed about how they will enter the shelters if a conflict erupts and the armed forces of the island are on red alert.
According to information from various sources, Taiwan’s air defense has been put on high alert and its fighters have proceeded to identify Chinese fighters approaching Taiwan’s air defense identification zone.
We expect to see if the visit will finally take place this afternoon (as reported by various US media outlets).
