Germany to supply Ukraine with 50 Gepard anti-aircraft systems

On Tuesday, a senior politician from one of Germany’s ruling coalition parties announced that Germany would approve the transfer of Flakpanzer Gepard anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

The newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht planned to announce the availability of these weapons during a meeting with NATO at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

This information was confirmed by the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin who stated that Germany will supply 50 Gepard (Cheetah) Anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called Germany’s decision to send 50 Cheetah anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine a “significant” move.

After being intensely criticized for his stance on Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged to deliver anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons from German military stockpiles to Ukraine.
