According to a recent announcement by the Hellenic Army General Staff, on April 29 and 30, 2022, “the receipt of 130 M1117, which is added to the 44 received in December 2021, took place in Thessaloniki, Greece.”
The M-1117 are granted to our country through the Surplus Defense Material program of the USA (Excess Defense Articles – EDA) and are used in reconnaissance and surveillance missions, significantly increasing the operational capabilities of the (Hellenic) Army, due to their operational mobility and enhanced armor.
The deliveries of more ASV M1117 (from United States) will continue in the next period of time as it has been planned “, states the Hellenic Army General Staff in its announcement.
The Ambassador of the United States of America in Greece also made a relevant post, uploading a video on Twitter.
Specifically, the US Ambassador wrote:
“We are proud to see 130 more armored security vehicles M1117 to be delivered to Greece and to arrive in Thessaloniki. By the end of 2022, the US will supply Greece with a total of 1,200 ASVs, all free of charge, through the EDA program.
