The first of the M1117s that the U.S. army has granted to Greece arrived in Athens on Friday from Germany. The first 44 of the American vehicles arrived by train at Rouf station and will reportedly be stored in a military camp in Attica.
It is noted that Greece had long ago expressed interest in acquiring 1200 M1117s and the U.S. had given approval and even for a free concession by the U.S. army.
As we have informed you at the beginning of the month, a Greek delegation had gone to Kaiserslautern, Germany, where the 21st Theater Sustainment Command is based to be trained in the use of M1117 armored vehicles with soldiers of the 18th Military Police Brigade.
“Our partners from Greece came to Kaiserslautern this week to participate in military vehicle familiarization of the M1117 armored security vehicle with Soldiers from 18th MP, helping strengthen the ironclad partnership between Hellenic & US militaries.” the 21st TSC had announced.
