KIMON is the first of the Navy’s new FDI HN frigates of the Belharra type and arrived in Piraeus in January 2026. The ship carries Thales’ Sea Fire AESA radar and Aster anti-aircraft missiles, and its capabilities also include the CAMCOPTER S-100 unmanned helicopter. For many visitors in Thessaloniki it will be the first chance to see the ship up close.

Public visits to warships take place every year for October 28 and for the feast of Saint Nicholas, patron saint of the Navy. This year the visit in Thessaloniki has particular significance, since KIMON will be in the city in the days before the military parade of October 28, while special morning hours have been set aside for schools on Monday and Tuesday. The announcement is signed by the Navy General Staff spokesman, Commander Georgios Laiakis.
