Intracom Defense gets a new board: Michalis Tsamaz as chairman and Lykourgos Antonopoulos as CEO
Greek defence company Intracom Defense (IDE) has a new five-member board, chaired by former OTE Group chief Michalis Tsamaz, with Lykourgos Antonopoulos as chief executive.
Intracom Defense (IDE), one of the most important companies in the Greek defence industry, has a new management. According to an official announcement by the company, after the Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders on October 14, 2026, the new Board of Directors was constituted, with Michalis Tsamaz as Chairman and Lykourgos Antonopoulos as Chief Executive Officer.
On the five-member board, Michalis K. Tsamaz is Chairman and a non-executive member, while Lykourgos A. Antonopoulos is CEO and an executive member. Stavros A. Banos and Avraam E. Moysis are also non-executive members, and Angeliki A. Petropoulou is an executive member.
Tsamaz, who for many years headed the OTE Group, said the new board will lay the foundations for further strengthening IDE’s international outreach and innovation. Antonopoulos said he takes up his new duties with great respect for what the company and its people have achieved so far.
A busy period for the company
The change comes at a time of intense activity. According to the company’s own announcements, IDE has taken on from KNDS Germany the supply of the WiSPRevo communications system for the new Leopard 2A8 tanks, takes part in two European Space Agency projects under the ARTES programme, SIRIUS and STARWAVE-6G, presented the PROTEAS DACAS system at the Ambrosios XVIII exercise and took part in the US Project Convergence Capstone 6.
IDE is also involved in domestic armament programmes, such as the modernisation of the MEKO 200HN frigates, where its technical offer for the communications systems was accepted. More on the overall upgrade of the Hydra-class frigates can be found in our analysis.
With the new management, IDE has to operate in an environment where the Greek defence industry is seeking a bigger role both in the national programmes of Agenda 2030 and in European supply chains, with emphasis on communications, electronics, command and control systems and space applications. The contribution of companies like IDE to the Armed Forces’ programmes is particularly important, as the government has set a goal of raising domestic participation in procurement and in the support of weapon systems.
