Ukraine attacked areas of Russia overnight on October 9, reportedly targeting a factory that produces fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, as well as oil infrastructure, the Kyiv Independent reported, citing Russian Telegram channels. The outlet said it could not immediately verify the reports, and Ukraine’s Armed Forces had not commented at the time of writing.
The monitoring channel Exilenova+, citing residents’ accounts, reported flashes of explosions and smoke in the area of the Redkino Experimental Plant in Russia’s Tver region. The plant produces components of Decilin-M rocket fuel, as well as additives for diesel and aviation kerosene. Ukraine has hit it before, in February 2026, and it is under sanctions from the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries.
Fire north of Belgorod
Elsewhere, a Ukrainian attack reportedly caused a fire at a fuel depot north of the city of Belgorod, according to NASA’s FIRMS platform, which records fires via satellite. The Ukrainian weapons used are not known, but Ukraine often uses long-range drones to hit facilities and oil infrastructure that support Russia’s war effort.
Russia routinely uses Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles in attacks on Ukrainian cities, including the recent mass strikes on Kyiv, where extensive power outages followed a Russian attack on October 8.
