Ukraine: strike on the “Robo Avia” drone plant in Rostov – a railway bridge and a missile brigade depot hit in Bryansk

Ukraine’s General Staff says it confirmed a strike on October 16 on a production and storage building of Robo Avia, a drone maker for the Russian army, in Russia’s Rostov region, and hits on a railway bridge and a missile brigade depot in Bryansk.

Ukraine’s General Staff announced on Saturday that a strike on October 16 was confirmed on a production and storage building of the company “Robo Avia”, near the settlement of Lenina in Russia’s Rostov region. According to the statement, the company develops and manufactures unmanned aircraft for the Russian army, and the strike is meant to make drone production and supply to Russian forces harder. The General Staff did not say which weapon was used and gave no information on the damage.

The same statement reports a strike on October 12 on a logistics support depot of a missile brigade unit near the settlement of Latysi in the Bryansk region. Kyiv describes the strikes as an exercise of the right of self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, aimed at reducing Russia’s military, economic and technological potential.

In a separate statement, the Ukrainian General Staff says that on October 16 and in the night to October 17 the railway bridge over the Unecha river, near Sloboda-Seletska in the Bryansk region, was hit. The aim, according to Kyiv, is to hinder the rail transport of ammunition, fuel and military equipment. Supply depots in Novoandriivka, Mikolske and Mariupol in the occupied Donetsk region were also hit, along with a drone control centre near Malynivka.

The Ukrainian General Staff’s reports have not been independently confirmed, and the Russian side has not commented. The strikes come after a night of massed Russian attacks: Russia used Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles, Kh-22, Kh-32 and Kalibr cruise missiles and 332 Shahed-type drones, 31 of them jet-powered. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, 293 targets were shot down or neutralised.

The ballistic missiles were launched from the Voronezh and Rostov regions and from Crimea, that is, including from the same area where the plant that was hit is located. Among the cruise missiles were four Kalibrs launched from the sea, and S-8000 “Banderol” munitions were also recorded.

The Rostov region borders eastern Ukraine. In previous weeks Russia had again targeted Ukrainian energy with ballistic missiles and drones, while Ukraine resumed strikes on Russian refineries.
