Poland requests six more Patriot system batteries for the Wisła program

According to statements made by Minister of National Defense of Poland, Mariusz Błaszczak on Tuesday, the second stage of the Wisła Air and Missile Defense Program will begin with the purchase of six Patriot system batteries.

According to what he had indicated, “We are continually implementing the second phase of the air defense program.”

It was brought to his attention that in the initial phase of the Wisła Air and Missile Defense Program deployment, the purchase of two Patriot batteries was made.

On Tuesday, the head of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland announced on Twitter that “he signed a letter of request for the acquisition of six more Patriot system batteries with omnidirectional radars, launchers, and a reserve of missiles.”

In addition, he mentioned that “we are beginning the second phase of the Wisa air defense program.” Lockheed Martin’s PAC-3 MSE missiles will be used as the primary offensive capability of the Polish systems.

The Northrop Grumman IBCS battlefield management system, which is now being created for US Army, will eventually incorporate also some Poland-specific features.

Błaszczak made also the announcement in Polsat News that the Ministry of National Defense would soon be announcing a possible procurement of HIMARS missile artillery systems with a range of up to 300 kilometers
