Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: “World War III would be catastrophic”

Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, told Al Jazeera that if World War III broke out, it would be catastrophic because nuclear weapons would be used.

More specifically, after US President Joe Biden said that the alternative to sanctions on Russia for its activities in Ukraine would be to launch World War III, Lavrov responded by saying that World War III will involve nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the second round of bilateral negotiations between Ukraine and Russia is scheduled to begin on Wednesday afternoon in Belarus.

Additionally, Sergey Lavrov spoke on the discussions with the Ukrainian government. The Russian foreign minister stated that Russia is willing to engage in dialogue, but that only the United States is pressuring Ukraine to do so.
