According to information, a meeting of the Greek Army General Staff was convened today under the head of the Greek Armed Forces, Konstantinos Floros, during which it was decided to take emergency measures on the occasion of yesterday’s threats by Tayyip Erdogan to open the borders for refugees.

The measures concern the shielding of the Greek land and sea borders and will be done in the coordination of the Greek Army General Staff and the Hellenic Police & Coast Guard. With this move the surveillance of the borders will be increased and if necessary, Greek forces will prevent any illegal entry.

In particular, it was decided to put the Greek armed forces on high alert and to report directly to Greek General Staff from the border units in case of a new Turkish provocation.
