U.S. Congress ready to stop Turkish F-16 modernization

According to information by Greek state TV correspondent Lena Argyri, a new letter is being circulated in the US House of Representatives to collect signatures against the possible sale of F-16s to Turkey and has the support of a strong “anti-Turkish alliance”.

Specifically, according to the journalist, in their letter to the head of the State Department, Antony Blinken, the American congressmen state:

“Given the CAATSA sanctions, we anticipate that such a sale could only be achieved by invoking technical evidence – for example, by trying to sell the aircraft to an entity other than the sanctioned Turkish defence industry.”

“We consider such attempts an inappropriate circumvention of Congress intent and will consider a new legislative initiative to limit this potential sale if the government insists on ignoring Congress’s intent.” the letter by Congressmen concludes.
