Russian Pantsir-S prevented attack on Russian airbase in Syria

Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Monday that a UAV that was launched against a Russian base in western Syria had been intercepted.

Pantsir-S, the Russian air defense system that shot down the UAV, is known for shooting down low-altitude UAVs and missiles and is heavily involved in the war in Syria.

However, it is the same system that in Libya failed to cover the LNA’s positions from Turkish UAV attacks and in many cases, the system itself was destroyed.

According to Sputnik, the drone was launched from Idlib to the Russian airbase Khmeimim in the Governorate of Latakia, a province in the west, off the coast of the Mediterranean.
