France will contribute to the UAE air defence with RAFALE fighter jets as the French Minister of Defence Florence Parly tweeted that France will even intercept incoming threats if necessary.
The move comes after ballistic missiles were fired on the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, by Houthi forces that have disrupted peace and tourism in the UAE.
The French Minister of Defence announced:
“The United Arab Emirates was the target of serious attacks in its territory in January. In order to show our solidarity with this friendly country, France has decided to provide military support, in particular, to protect the airspace from any invasion.
“Rafale fighter jets, which belong to our permanent force based in Abu Dhabi, will be involved from now on together with the UAE Armed Forces in surveillance, reconnaissance and interception missions if necessary.” stated the French Minister of Defense.
