The 20-year defense agreement between Greece and Israel worth 1.68 billion dollars was announced today, Tuesday, by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. This agreement is the largest defense agreement between the two countries so far.
The agreement, which is expected to be signed by the defense ministers of the two allied countries, includes the establishment and operation of a school for pilots of the Greek Air Force by the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems ESLT.TA, the purchase of 10 M-346 aircraft, aircraft maintenance T-6 , the supply of simulators, as well as training and logistics equipment, the Israeli ministry said.
“This agreement reflects the excellent and growing relations we have with Greece. “This is a long-term partnership that will serve the interests of both Israel and Greece, create hundreds of jobs in both countries and promote stability in the Mediterranean,” said Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gandz. telephone communication with his Greek counterpart after the approval of the agreement.
The announcement does not say when the agreement will be signed, but says the Greek government’s decision “allows both sides to enter into negotiations” before signing.
